Banyule City Council’s People and Culture team provide vital support to the entire organisation to enable the delivery of Council’s vision and strategic plans, positioning Banyule City Council as a leader in maintaining a high quality of services to provide the best possible opportunities and outcomes for the community they represent.

This exciting, diverse role provides a great opportunity for an experienced Business Partner to join the growing P&C team and to have a focus on advising, enabling and supporting management and employees, providing sound HR advice to the organisation on all matters of people management.

Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, this critical role is accountable for: 
  • Provision of specialist advice in regard to EA terms, conditions of employment and legislative requirements
  • Liaising with Managers, staff and Unions in the effective resolution of specialist employee relations issues
  • Responding to staff complaints and grievances confidentially and with appropriate action
  • Supporting and coaching line management to undertake performance management process, including management of underperformance, misconduct and incremental advancement 
  • Providing advice and support to change management practices and recruitment and selection procedures 
As a key part of the People and Culture team, the incumbent will work across the organisation but with a particular focus on staff in the Assets and City Services directorate.

The successful applicant will have appropriate tertiary qualifications in HR Management/Industrial Relations or similar area, and proven experience in all HR matters including performance management and practices, talent management, workforce planning, change management and employee relations/industrial relations. Experience in delivering contemporary solutions-focused HR initiatives is fundamental, as are proven stakeholder management skills and the ability to adopt an innovative and progressive approach to problem solving.
