Reporting to the Manager Governance, this exciting, diverse and high-profile role provides high-calibre corporate support to elected representatives, whilst also playing a vital role as part of Council’s governance function, with a renewed focus on relationship management and continuous improvement of processes around compliance and reporting.
Key deliverables for the role will include:
- Provision of support to the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors, including actioning councillor correspondence, and managing enquiries from external and internal stakeholders
- Coordination of all Mayoral functions including invitations, programs caterers, entertainment, decorations, speech notes and order of proceedings
- Coordination of meetings with Councillors, staff politicians both federal and state and members of the public and research background material prior to these meetings
- Coordination of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Councillors workflow and drafting correspondence on their behalf
- Supporting the Governance Coordinator with Road and Feature Naming, Delegations and Authorisations and other administrative duties
- Supporting the Council Business Lead with the administration of Council meetings and other administrative duties, attending Council Meetings where required
We are seeking applications from confident, capable professionals with a proven track record in executive-level support, refined communication skills and a relationship-focused approach to their work. Able to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders at the most senior levels, applicants will demonstrate integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism. Experience in high-level administrative roles will enable the navigation of competing priorities with clarity and confidence, and a proactive mindset will ensure that you are always a step ahead in supporting the Mayor, Councillors and the organisation’s broader leadership agenda.
A high level of diplomacy and discretion is required, along with experience in working in an environment involving political sensitivity. Previous experience in local government would be highly regarded, with strong skills in Microsoft Office suite. A high level of attention to detail and strong time management skills are both critical.
