Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, overseeing 5 direct reports and a broader team of 135, this key Executive role is responsible for overseeing the delivery, maintenance and renewal of the Council’s infrastructure through a diverse portfolio of functions, including strategic and operational asset management planning, capital works planning and programming, environment sustainability, waste management and contract management services. It presents a genuinely unique opportunity to help to shape a highly liveable future community in a municipality experiencing significant and continued population growth.
The Director will act as the primary advisor to the CEO and Council and will have responsibility for:
- Successful delivery of complex programs across capital works and asset management
- Develop and maintain strong, executive level, stakeholder relationships across government and across key industry sectors to support Council’s strategic objectives.
- Influence the organisational approach to infrastructure service delivery and lead continuous improvement initiatives that safeguard future capability and maturity of the service
- Oversee delivery of programs and projects, to ensure outcomes align with scope, schedule, quality, budget and strategic direction
- Participate in the mitigation and/or improvement of Risk Management within the organisation and ensure risks including health and safety are appropriately managed within the Directorate
- Lead change management initiatives within the Directorate that support professional development and alignment with organisation cultural commitments
The ideal candidate is an established senior leader with strategic and contemporary service delivery expertise, highly developed political acumen and a track record in delivering change and experience in nurturing high performing teams. The successful candidate will have a demonstrable, ‘can do’ approach and be positive, proactive and solution oriented. Applicants will bring relevant tertiary qualifications in an Engineering related discipline, along with substantial management experience at a senior management level, preferably in an infrastructure and asset management related role, ideally within Local Government.
