The role
The Project Manager (Interior Designer) is a key role in VMCH’s Property division, taking on responsibility for planning and delivering a variety of projects, with an emphasis on both new construction and refurbishments. The role also oversees the selection and management of project-related contractors, suppliers, and consultants. Supported by the senior development team, the role is dedicated to delivering innovative, best-in-class accommodation that enhances VMCH’s reputation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing all aspects of projects, including stakeholder consultation, scoping needs and deliverables
- Planning and development of designs to ensure that technical and functional briefs are in line with the overall needs of the internal client
- Managing the preparation of project budgets in consultation with a Cost Planner or Quantity Surveyor
- Managing the tendering and procurement process of a project in conjunction with the Cost Planner/Quantity Surveyor
- Managing contractors to ensure performance levels are consistent with contractual agreements and positive relationships are maintained
- Coordinating and undertaking preliminary design such as concept or sketch designs for test fit and feasibility purposes.
- Assist the team with interior selections including materials, finishes, furniture and décor that align with VMCH standards and modern slavery requirements.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure that all new or refurbished accommodation complies with NDIA and RAC standards and meets VMCH’s operational requirements.
- Develop and manage budgets and expenditure for capital projects, reporting on project performance against forecasts to identify budget issues and resolving budget issues with relevant stakeholders as required
- Maintain regular reporting to the Senior Development team on the progress of projects
- Assist with the preparation of business cases for sub-committee and Board audiences and prepare progress reports for projects as required.
- Manage and administer the risk management process in accordance with VMCH Risk Management Framework where directed.
- Work in consultation with the Asset Management team during design and delivery to enable input across all maintenance strategies and lifecycle management aspects of the project and future asset.
- Preparation of post completion audits and reports to drive continuous improvement mandates across the organisation.
- Ensure 100% regulatory compliance across all phases of project delivery
About you: The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience in managing multiple concurrent projects, with relevant qualifications expected in the form of a Bachelors degree, or a higher tertiary degree, in interior design or architecture.
Exceptional project management skills and a proven record of 3+ years of successfully managing small to medium sized projects are fundamental. Experience across projects in the Retirement Living, Residential Aged Care and/or Disability sectors would be beneficial preferred but not essential.
Applicants will be self-motivated, with a proven ability to work both autonomously as well as cooperatively in a team environment, with well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to cope with conflicting demands and work priorities. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills are mandatory to enable the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.
